adidas Honoring Black Excellence 2025

In 2025, the quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend were recognized by adidas’ Honoring Black Excellence (HBE) initiative which celebrates the achievements of Black individuals, collectives, and culture. The multifaceted collaboration facilitated by Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders included a community grant, a short documentary highlighting the quiltmakers’ legacy, a limited-edition NCAA basketball jersey collection inspired by the artistry Gee’s Bend, and a commissioned collection of quilts that was donated to adidas’ HBCU partners.

Stephen Burks Man Made Joins Forces With Gee's Bend Quilters

In 2025, designer Stephen Burks Man Made and Italian fabric label Dedar collaborated with ten quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend, coordinated by Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders, to create a collection of quilts showcased at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Amazon Holiday Gift Guide 2022

As part of its 2022 holiday campaign, Amazon spotlighted six Gee’s Bend artists (Claudia Pettway Charley, Francesca Charley, Stella Mae Pettway, Doris Mosely, Mary Margaret Pettway, and Jade Pettway) with a photoshoot and exclusive interview in its print and digital Holiday Gift Guide.

Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders’ co-founder Claudia Pettway Charley brings to the organization her experience as the Gee’s Bend Community Manager for Nest, a nonprofit artisan guild that works toward responsible growth for the maker economy.

In this role, Pettway Charley liaised with leading brands to support numerous high-profile collaborations and introduce the art of Gee’s Bend to wider audiences.
