adidas Honoring Black Excellence 2025

In 2025, the quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend were recognized by adidas’ Honoring Black Excellence (HBE) initiative which celebrates the achievements of Black individuals, collectives, and culture. The multifaceted collaboration facilitated by Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders included a community grant, a short documentary highlighting the quiltmakers’ legacy, a limited-edition NCAA basketball jersey collection inspired by the artistry Gee’s Bend, and a commissioned collection of quilts that was donated to adidas’ HBCU partners.
